Dear Hatboro Dog Club members,
Hopefully everyone is having a good winter season. We have been lucky as far as the weather, certainly far better than most of the country.
I want to give you all an update on our upcoming shows, October 3 and 4, 2019. The AKC has approved our shows and our judging panel. This year including Obedience and Rally we have sixteen judges. Many of these were recommended by the membership, some from last year that were not able to judge for us in 2018 and others from suggestions this year. And those who are not able to judge this year are in the works for next year’s shows. Please contact me if you have suggestions for 2020.
So far this year we have the United States Kerry Blue Terrier Club, the United States Lakeland Terrier Club, the Norwich Terrier Club of America and the Delaware Valley German Shepherd Club supporting our shows with Specialties or Supported Entries. Several other clubs have also expressed their willingness do this as well but not approval yet from the AKC. I think last year we had thirteen breed clubs support our shows and Milan Lint, our Specialty Coordinator, is hoping we get more this year. I hope any member in a Breed Club will encourage their club to support our shows this year as well as placing ads in our catalog.
Contracts have been signed with Adams Tenting, Rau and Ashbey Photography. Lauren Gerloff, our Hospitality Chair, has been in touch with Homewood Suites and rooms have been set aside for our judges. She will be sending out welcome letters shortly. Our shows this year will be dedicated to member David Chubb.
Connie Burnley and Pam Davis attended the opening of the AKC Museum of the Dog and saw our plaque on the Wall of Fame. They said the new museum is spectacular and urge everyone to visit it.
Sally Feinburg has been approved by the AKC to be our new AKC Delegate. Sally did this before for us and will be an excellent representative for our club. If anyone has any concerns or questions regarding the AKC, please feel free to contact her.
I understand the Lifetime Member, Doris Homsher had a fall. Bud DiDonato, chair of Sunshine is sending her a card. For those that remember Doris, I’m sure she would appreciate a get well card.
Our Awards Dinner will again be at Bernie’s in Hatboro on March 26th. Thank you, Sue Ratz for taking care of ordering the trophies this year. Sue said there will be nineteen awards this year. Congratulations to those members and their dogs. And thank you Nancy Smith who is again this year taking care of the dinner arrangements. Nancy will be sending out information on this and requesting menu selections shortly.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Awards Dinner and having all of you help out with our shows this year.
Robert Thomas, President
